Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants to USA, Canada, and International organizations, groups, and individuals for STEM activities to benefit computer technology experts. Funding is intended to encourage education related to computer science and to advance knowledge of STEM topics. Preference will be given to projects that run on small budgets and those that are less likely to receive corporate, institutional, or government funding.

The purpose of the Hacker Initiative (HI) Grant Program is to strengthen and enrich the hacker community through small monetary grants. The following are examples of ways such grants can be used:

  • Independent STEM education Initiatives such as homebrew hacking or robotics clubs, student led research projects, and other similar activities not otherwise supported by school or institutional grants.
  • Contests, Scholarships and other Educational Programs that promote student education about information security, computers and the hacker community.
  • Community events and presentations that focus on connecting students, hacker groups, and other interested parties, with recognized Industry leaders.

The Hacker Initiative is open to receiving applications that fall outside of the themes listed above, provided the proposed project is consistent with the spirit of the Foundation and is designed to promote computer science education and the advancement of STEM knowledge.

The Hacker Initiative encourages applications that support projects ranging from machine learning and new AI programming languages, to quantum computing, cybersecurity, privacy research, and the like. The Foundation also encourages applications from small organizations, students or student groups, and individuals with project proposals that include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Promoting global public awareness of elite engineering skills
  • Supporting and advancing learning in elite engineering skills
