Request a Grant Writer

Grant to a Southern Nevada nonprofit agency for a project that meets a pressing community need in the local community. A grant application must be submitted prior to submitting a full document package. Consideration will be given to organizations working in the areas of education, arts, health, environment, social services, and child welfare. Funding may be requested for program support or capital projects.

Successful proposals:

  • Address an urgent and vital need
  • Demonstrate unique solutions to time-worn problems
  • Engage in new ventures and encourage collaboration

Number of Grants:

Nevada Women’s Philanthropy (NWP) annually awards one large grant.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The amount of the grant varies by the size of membership, but has been approximately $350,000 historically.

Term of Contract:

The project must be ready to be implemented within one year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible the applicant agency must demonstrate that they meet NWP’s baseline criteria, including but not limited to the following.

The Agency:
- Has the size and strength to manage the grant;
- Is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, public nonprofit;
- Does not discriminate or proselytize;
- Has not received the NWP Impact Grant in the past seven grant cycles or the Founders Gift in the last grant cycle;
- Has been serving the Southern NV population for four (4) or more years;
- Can provide three (3) years of audited financial statements

Funds may not be used for research.

Pre-Application Information:

Shortened Timeline:

Phase I, November 8 through mid-December: The agency submits the Grant Application (available online in September; due November 8, 2019, 5pm (PST)
Phase II, mid-December through January 8: GSC votes on projects to advance to Document Package Phase (Phase III) on January 7, 2020
Phase III, January 7 through February 25:
-The agency is invited to submit a Document Package (Doc Pac) by January 23, 2020, 5pm PST
-GSC votes on projects to advance to Site Interviews (Phase IV) on February 25, 2020
Phase IV, March 9 through March 20, 2020: If selected, the agency is invited to provide a 1-2 hour site visit for GSC members
Phase V, March 24 through April 28, 2020: The agency is invited to become a finalist
Phase VI, May 2020 through May 2023: Funds are issued

The project must be sustainable beyond NWP funding and utilize NWP funding for at least 30% of the total project funding.
