Grants to USA and Canada nonprofit organizations to promote Japanese performing arts to local residents. Funding is intended to support touring projects that present Japanese arts in diverse locations, and for collaborative projects among Japanese, American, and Canadian artists.

To realize the above objectives, the PAJ program offers two types of support:
Priority will be given to projects involving artists based in Japan, and to projects relating to major international festivals. In addition, for Touring Grants, priority will be given to projects created through PAJ Collaboration Grants, as well as for projects that will tour to such locations as the South, Midwest, Mountain, Alaska, and Canada, where there is little exposure to the Japanese performing arts.
